Liberated Wordpress 1.5.2 Launched

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

All that frantic nonsense I’ve been writing over the past week has come to to fruition. It’s only a minor change, but this publication is now proudly powered by Liberated Wordpress 1.5.2, my derivative of WordPress 1.5.2.

If you are interested in what has changed, please read this raunchy, fully-animated, omni-nubile sexual position catalogue.

The project was partly inspired by a desire to begin building a knowledge base of educational material from which aspiring (and expiring) programmers can learn and laugh. I had never before seen a complete, detailed record of a real software development project from start to finish and realised that maybe no-one else had either. I decided to write one.

The result, my post Liberating WordPress with its many, intricately detailed comments are just the beginning and must yet be sculpted into a useful tool. There’s a lot of word surgery for starters.

I welcome discussion with any who wish to help me get started. I’m going to teach people how not to code!

Are you still with me? ;)

Liberating WordPress

Sunday, January 15th, 2006

A Libertus brand mini-project to re-jig the WordPress security system and add a forum-like feature I’ve wanted from the first day I used it.

Primarily this post and the comments are my work notes. Those interested in my approach to code surgery, or code surgery in general, are encouraged to observe but comments shall be held until the project is completed. I’m sure my rather unconventional use of neuro-linguistic programming to reinforce design metaphors will draw some discussion.

To anyone who sees their own code here, behold the true meaning of the phrase open source and sieze an opportunity to reap some of the benefits you so richly deserve for your gift of generousity. Thank you, whoever you are. Before taking any criticism personally, consider why I’m putting such considerable effort into this.

Ozric Tentacles - “Waterfall Cities”

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

As two CDs have comprised around 95% of my music listening pleasure for the last four months, I can safely say that I have listened them to death and should be able to tell people something about them.

Describe Ozric Tentacles CDs. Ah yes, well there’s the trouble. Unlike most other musicians, the Ozrics deliberately make their music difficult to describe in words. Rather than asking “do you like our music?” the Ozrics ask “would you like to come on a journey with us?” Describing a journey through a physical landscape is taxing enough, but an aural landscape or soundscape? How does one begin?

On omnipotence, could an omnipotent being create something over which it had no power?
