I logged my first dive for the third time today. I’ve paid £3.95 for one month in which time I can log as many dives, write as many stories and make as many changes as I please.

  1. OT: I wanted to send you a link on del.icio.us but I cannot work out how.

Anyway, just to let you know Vista RC2 is out.

    1. Hi Gavin,

To leave me a link on del.icio.us, tag it for:libertus.

Thanks for the heads-up on Vista RC2. I’m not sure any of the PCs I use could cope with such an young, vibrant and dynamic OS. I cannot afford to upgrade at the moment and, thanks to the new age discrimination laws, I can’t advertise the fact that my “elderly computers seek mature, tried and tested OS for long-term servile relationship” :)

That said, I am very interested in having my workstation’s desktop rendered using advanced 3D graphics, so some compromise on performance vs. maturity will be necessary on my part. I’ve sent you a link on del.icio.us that may explain why.

Have you been running any of the Vista pre-preleases? If so, what has excited you about them?

  2. My blog’s down at the moment.

The best features of Vista are the Media Center (so stable, easy to use and polished) and the new Explorer windows. The new explorer windows allow you to sort information by any of the normal criteria (Name, Modified Date, Type etc) but also allow larger ‘Groups’. Where XP can sort files OR group them, Vista does both. You can also collapse groups meaning that all those unimportant text files can be ‘hidden’ allowing easy access to that spreadsheet or Word document…
