Again! What is this guy on? Aesthetics mostly.

  1. A colour scheme and style more pleasing to my eye
  2. My certifications are now displayed on the summary page

  1. A big improvement, although I’m not sure about the dotted lines for links.

Now I’ve had a chance to use the admin interface, I’ll have a few suggeston for you on how it could be improved.

  2. I’m interested in improving the admin further, of course. It must remain simple, though. First question, what do you think of default values for gas in and out? I’d prefer to remove them.

The dotted lines are pleasing to my eyes.

  3. Yeah, remove them. One thing that struck me was that when you put in values for time in and time out it does not automatically calculate the bottom time value. You should be able to put in any combiation of TI TO or BT and have it calculate the other value.

You eyes are screwed though so your judgement is questionable. For the sake of consistancy, the underlines should be solid.

  4. Re gas defaults, good, I’ll put default removal on the todo.

Re bottom time calculation, considered during design and rejected as unnecessary.

I like the dots. They differentiate the links from underlined text and they’re less visually intense than solids. You’re right, my eyes are screwed so you should definately get Lucy to do the style for your dive log!

    How’s Rach?

  6. It might be unnecessary but it makes inputing the data quicker if some fields are automatically populated.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Lucy does with the colour scheme.

  9. Hi Paul

Everything is in italics, your blog and your dive log. Have you been playing or am I getting a bad translation to spanish version of windows? Italics are not easy to read )-:
Links are usually either underline or different font and colour, in most applications/web pages. What is considered ‘good’ in a user interface usually follows established precidence (sp?). The key word here is “user”. And before you make the argument, I know that without change we’d still be eating raw meat… You said that “I like the dots. They differentiate the links from underlined text ” but I couldn’t find any underlined text (didn’t read the whole dive log though).
I’ll go look at Lucy’s revamped divelog now…

  10. Rach,

Regarding the italics, there’s nothing I can see in the HTML or CSS which could do that. In fact, if the blog is italic, the problem has to be with the browser you’re using.

Regarding style, there’s no underlined text in the dive log.

  11. Al,

Regarding bottom time calculation, you need only enter time in and either bottom time or time out. The other is calculated when you save. If you enter all three, bottom time takes precedence over time out.
